Having introduced Speed Stacks as part of a Primary PE coordinators’ training day back in October the secondary staff were feeling left out so Ron Parker agreed to return to sunny North Dorset and deliver some additional training. During the day Ron made a tour of a number of Partnership venues, delivering at Yewstock School & Sturminster Newton High School to students, and finally to Blandford to deliver a twilight session to 15 PE staff from the 5 North Dorset secondary schools. The activities were progressive and challenging, in some cases testing the PE staff more than the students had been during the day. Staff were shown how a classroom activity could quite easily be developed into a physically challenging SAQ relay, where you can easily create opportunities for students of differing abilities to succeed. Many thanks to Ron Parker and all at Speed Stacks UK for their continued support. Now the whole of North Dorset are Speed Stacking, do we have a British Champion in the making? Julia Lane, PDM |
