On Wednesday 24th February, year 3 and 4 pupils from across the Shaftesbury family came together for a festival of Football. The schools represented were Motcombe, Shaftesbury Primary, Shaftesbury Abbey, Semley and Chilmark. The weather ensured that it was cold and wet, but the spirit, enthusiasm and quality of the Football on show, warmed the cockles of the hearty band of parents and teachers who took the time and effort to support the children taking part. The festival was able to run so smoothly with the help of a number of Sports Leaders from Years 10 (7 Leaders), 11 (1 Leader) and 12 (4) who attend Shaftesbury School. All of the children involved had a fantastic time, and it was great to see so many fantastic games of Football! Chilmark took the award for the most goals scored, and also for the fewest goals conceded, whilst Semley took the fair play award. If Fabio Capello needs any players in South Africa this summer, he need look no further than a quiet corner of North Dorset! Ashley Perry SSCo Shaftesbury School |
