... Managed to blow the results team's tent away! The second of the North Dorset SSP QuadKids competitions took place today hosted by Rachael Troughton, SSCo. 15 teams and approximately 160 athletes from across North Dorset converged on The Gryphon School, Sherborne, for an afternoon of exciting competition.

Blustery Blandford Hosts QuadKids

The Blandford School was the venue for this year's North Dorset SSP Amber QuadKids event. Over 70 pupils from 7 primary schools across North Dorset came together to compete in this multi-discipline event, in very blustery conditions.

New Opportunities for North Dorset Students

More than 40 young people took part in the annual 'New Opportunities' festival of sport, which this year took place at The Gryphon School in Sherborne. The event was targeted at those students with a physical disability who attend a mainstream school and are in year6-year 13. ‘Playground to Podium' funding from the Youth Sport Trust helped enable the event to take place.

Sun Shines on Success

In excess of 450 pupils from 27 North Dorset primary schools took to the fields and courts of Bryanston School for what was to be the last ever North Dorset SSP event for netball and football, ably assisted by 20 Sports Leaders from local secondary schools.

Nearly 100 Year 5 & 6 pupils from the length and breadth of North Dorset descended on Shaftesbury School to compete in this fun filled event, for the honour of representing North Dorset in the forthcoming County Finals. It was fantastic to see the participants embrace the Olympic values of respect, excellence and friendship during the competition.

Blandford Olympic Gymnasts Strike Gold

Over 200 Year 2 children from the Blandford area attended one of the two Olympic Gym Festivals which took place during February, and all gave gold medal performances.

After winning the North Dorset Girls U14 Basketball Tournament, the Gryphon team went on to compete at the Dorset County Competition in Bournemouth, which they won! They will now be invited to attend the South West Regional Round as Dorset Champions...

This year's Dorset PLT Conference was hosted at the Weymouth and Portland Sailing Academy and opened by Darren Campbell and Todd Bennett, who introduced the Team Superschools Challenge. Over 100 teachers from North Dorset SSP, West Dorset SSP and Christchurch & Purbeck SSP came together to explore ways of ‘Inspiring Learning Through a Creative Olympic Curriculum'.

Sturminster Newton High School hosted 65 children from Stalbridge and St Nicholas schools, to compete for the cross country relays trophies.
7 teams from St Nicholas competed in the Yr 3 & 4 race and 5 teams from each school battled it out for the Yr 5 & 6 trophy.
